Lovegirl R & B legend Teena Marie has died

R & B legend Teena Marie has died, her manager confirmed today (26 December).

Marie Christine Brockert born Teena Marie rose to prominence in the late 70's and 80's, striking a musical and personal collaboration with Funk legend Rick James. She published 13 studio albums, six of which went platinum in the U.S. R & B charts. Two of their albums went platinum, and gold were six in total.

Marie's biggest hit came in 1984 with their single "Lover Girl"which reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Teena Marie was known for classic songs like "I'm A Sucker For Your Love" with Rick James, "Fire and Desire" by Rick James, "Behind the Groove", "Portuguese Love", "Dear Lover, " "Out on A Limb "and " Square Biz, "which they rap presented.

La Dona (2004) produced the single "I'm Still In Love ", while her last album for Cash Money tracks Sapphire (2007) produced the Top 40 single "Ooh Wee".
